The Case Of Manny Case Essay - 1602 Words

In the case of Manny, a seventeen-year-old Hispanic male living in a very rough neighborhood in San Jose, California. We are looking at a gang beating on a local family. This beating included Manny and two other Norteno gang members and four men who were brutally beaten with two of them being stabbed. Also, a woman that was six months pregnant who was hit multiple times in the stomach with a baseball bat. Manny was arrested on four counts of attempted murder. The prosecutor is pushing for him to be tried as an adult. Despite facts leading people to believe that he did not hit the woman, he was found unfit on the last criteria, the seriousness of the crime. He was able to stay in juvenile hall until his adult hearing. He was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to. Do I agree with the sentence? Yes, I do. He was involved in a very violent beating of five people. At age fourteen he pled guilty to rape, this leads me to believe that he will continue to live a life of crime. He li ved a rough life without a father and started having violent outbreaks as early as the fourth grade. He was even running around on the streets that young as well. These are obvious signs that he could be involved in violence when he gets older. These are signs that if his guardian would have payed attention to, Manny may not have turned into a criminal. Manny was tried as an adult and rightfully so, with a rape charge on his record and the gang affiliation and the trouble in the household.
