Finland Is The First Country That I Will Talk About

Finland is the first country that I will talk about. I’m going to cover how Finland is overall with women’s rights then I will break it down by workforce and family life. Finland is in the Northern part of Europe and the population there is estimated to be about 5.5 million people. (Gobal Gender,2016) Finland is in the top 10 and is ranked number two out of 144 countries for overall gender equality in 2016 according to the Global Gender Gap Index. â€Å"The Global Gender Index was first introduced by the World Economic Forum in 2006 as a framework for capturing the magnitude of gender-based disparities and tracking their progress over time. The index Benchmarks national gender gaps on economic, education, health and political criteria and provides country rankings that allows for effective comparisons across regions and income groups.†(Global Gender, 2016) Finland is following behind Iceland as it takes the number one spot and is followed by Norway that takes the third spot. It ranks number two on the list because of the country’s overall equality as far as gender goes. It’s still not as high as Iceland is but It comes very close to it. The reason that it is not number one is because they fall short in certain areas but at the same time, it’s not too low in those specific areas.
